Andrew Johnston
Chairperson
Board member since 2022. Was previously a governor between 2015-2017 and was Chairman of the Old Hiltonian Club prior to 2015
Andrew has served as Director of Corporate Services and Group Company Secretary for the Sun International Group since 2016. An admitted attorney with 28 years’ experience, he has held senior management and executive roles at major South African listed companies including Anglo American Industrial Corporation, Altron, Liberty Life and Spescom.
He brings extensive offshore legal and company secretarial expertise, having spent much of his career working in foreign jurisdictions. In 2024, an international panel shortlisted him among the top five corporate secretaries worldwide.
Andrew is married to Dale, and they have three children, two sons, both Old Hiltonians, and a daughter.

Thabo Seopa
Deputy Chairperson

Thabo is the chairman and CEO of AfriGIS, a leading geospatial data company in Africa. With more than 20 years’ experience as CEO, he has served on the boards of listed and unlisted companies. Thabo founded Awande Capital Partners (ACP) and Awande Investment Managers, a private equity company which manages investments for ACP, and Big Five Digital, a digital transformation advisory company.
He is a founding trustee of his Seana Marena Foundation, the past chairman of Pridwin School; and a trustee of the Red Cross Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Thabo is married to Nontando and they have three children.

Jonathan Clark
Chairperson: Finance Committee
Board member since March 2018
Jonathan is a chartered accountant with degrees in commerce and accounting from Wits. He is an investor and director of Mozambique’s largest reseller of airtime, data and other virtual products. Jonathan started his career in corporate finance before moving into the resources industry. He is the former chief finance officer of junior mining companies Barplats, Eland Platinum and Tharisa. As such, he was involved in all aspects of strategic and operational development of these companies from inception to sale, in the case of Barplats and Eland Platinum. Tharisa is listed on both the JSE and the London Stock Exchange.
Jonathan is married to Jeanine and they have two children.

Bruce Falcon
Board member since November 2021
Bruce is an attorney and the co-founder of Falcon and Hume Inc, a boutique law firm specialising in corporate, commercial and mining law. A fourth-generation Hiltonian, he matriculated in 1988 and did post-matric in 1989. After graduating from Wits with a BCom and an LLB, Bruce obtained his LLM from the University of Melbourne. He practised law in Australia for some years before returning to SA to set up his firm. Bruce was the recipient of a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship (LLM, Melbourne). He is married to Sarah-Anne and they have two daughters. Bruce is a keen sportsman who enjoys endurance adventure sporting events.

Doug Gain
Board member since August 2022
Doug was head of Ellis in 1994 and stayed on to be head of school in 1995. After studying accounting at RAU and Unisa, Doug joined KPMG and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2002. Over the past 20 years, Doug has worked across various sectors with a predominant focus on mining. He has built and operated large-scale mining entities, notably in the thermal coal space. In addition, he cofounded Masimong Group, a significant investor in the South African mining, agriculture, financial services, chemicals and beverage industries.
Doug is married to Leigh and they have three children.

Guy Hancock
Chairperson: Building and Services
Board member since November 2019
Guy is the owner of Cool Living, a manufacturer and supplier of premium-quality products that enhance living and workspaces. A second-generation Hiltonian, he matriculated in 1991 and studied mechanical engineering. Guy started his career at South Africa Breweries in production and was integrally involved in the implementation of the SAB ERP system. Following his post-graduate at Wits Business School, he worked in the aviation industry and then in logistics.
Guy is married to Robyn and they have two children. He loves outdoor activities, whether in the ocean, in the mountains, on a river or on a golf course.

Sizo Jali
Board member since October 2021
Sizo is the founder and managing director of Frontrow Ventures, a company that supplies petroleum products, among other things. He has extensive experience in the oil industry in the SADAC region and has worked with major oil companies in logistics and product supply. Sizo formed part of the team that negotiated the 25% BBBEE acquisition of Total SA in 2014.
He is a non-executive director of Technorail.
A keen golfer, he worked as a freelance presenter on SABC 3’s The Golf Bag show and has played at Augusta National Golf Club in the USA.
Sizo is married to Ntebo and they have one child.

Carl Jankowitz
Board member since November 2021
Carl is the managing director of Equity Estates, a property development and investment company which has developed commercial and residential properties in South Africa and the United Kingdom. He is a lawyer with an MBA from Wits Business School. He matriculated from Hilton College in 1985 and did post-matric in 1986.
Carl has always loved the bush, but his great passion is deep-sea fishing.
He is married to Louise and they have three daughters.

Simon Reid
Board member since November 2023
Simon’s last job in education was as CEO and head teacher of Christ’s Hospital School, the UK’s leading charitable school and largest bursary charity. He is the former head of Gordonstoun School and former deputy head of Worksop College. Simon has been in his position at Christ’s Hospital since 2017. He has a BA in English and politics and a Higher Diploma in Education. He moved to Britain with his wife, Michèle, in the mid-1980s and taught English at several UK schools prior to his appointment at Worksop and Gordonstoun. Simon has held several governorships of both state and independent schools and is a governor at Whitgift School.
